IDENTIFY PROBLEM AND PROBLEM ANALYSIS
What is emotion of give up or devastated?
According to Cambridge Dictionary, giving up is to stop trying to do something before you have finished, usually because it is too difficult. Everyone in this world has ever felt a failure and even a feeling of despair from doing it. Moreover, the reasons why they choose to give up also vary according to the purpose for which they did so. For example, giving up on romance, education, life and self. When we start to feel this feeling, we will think that our life is starting to fall apart and there is no more reason to continue that job even in life art all. They begin to ignore people around them and feel themselves unworthy to be in the world because they are unable to do anything.
Why we choose this topic?
Because students (high school and university students) always give up and feel devastated at school/ assignment
Adults also feels give up when they faced difficulty to survive (work pressure, utilities and bills to pay, survive living alone)
Parents give up on their children (stress to take care of children, lack of knowledge of parenting skills)
Why we wants to give up?
When confronted with a challenge, we are frequently told to “not give up”. Giving up, on the other hand, is not always considered as a terrible thing in nature. Realizing that an effort to attain something is not working and then ending it might be advantageous. Giving up or feeling devastated is the emotion that everyone has been faced throughout our life, especially students in high schools and university. This is due to the stress that they go through when doing the tasks given by their teachers and lecturers over their ability. Other than that, they are trying their best to do the task but the progress is not achieved. Their standards can lead to mental breakdown and not being able to continue the journey. For the above reasons, we choose to conduct a discussion regarding this topic so that this matter can be resolved in stages.
When people feel give up?
The students usually feel the sensation of giving up is when they are in the middle of the progress of the plan. It always happens not only students but the workers feel the same, we are trying to do it but it is too difficult or beyond the knowledge and we tend to stop from trying and tend to do something that is more easier and still under our capability to do it. Other than that, we tend to surrender when we face a major problem or escape a problem which does not show us as a person who is ready for new knowledge. In addition, there are some days when we are feeling unmotivated that may influence our mood to do some work. For the above reasons, feelings of despair will inevitably be experienced by everyone but the way they handle those feelings leads to self-good or vice versa.
How people feel the emotion?
People feel like giving up when one of the group members does not fully cooperate with the teammate. For example, when the task is distributed, he might be involved in a meeting but does not achieve the goals of the objective of the task. This will lead to stress among group members except him because they need to finish the group assignment before the due date which leads to self-compassion indirectly. Based on a journal from Mental Health of Malaysian university students by Yasuhiro Kotera, it states that the statistic of mean stress is 18.68 which is quite higher for Malaysian students in mental health problems and self-compassion. When stress happens among teammates, this will cause them to feel like almost giving up if it happens continuously.
Next, they feel like giving up because they care too much of what other people think. For example, when a new group assignment is released, normally pupils tend to choose brainy students as their group members to guide them. For someone who is a slow learner, not all of them will choose him as their group members, this will lead to stress and if he thinks too much, it will be the next stage of stress which becomes anxiety. Based on a journal from Mental Health of Malaysian university students by Yasuhiro Kotera, it states that the mean of the statistic stress is 1.27 higher than anxiety. However, even though the average anxiety is lower than stress, in fact it is more dangerous because it requires more attention from the people around them because sometimes they are not aware that they have entered an anxiety phase. When someone think too much, they will tend to feel stress and if become worse, it can leads to anxiety which cause the person to give up easily.
